FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

    For The First Time Ever (FFTE)

~~~ DROUGHT ~~
 The Colorado River
July 2021:  FFTE  federal water managers took  emergency measures to prevent the water level from dropping to levels too low produce power.
(FFTE) THE GLEN CANYON DAM: "Water Levels have reduced the dam’s output by 16%."
That's a lot. But it doesn't sound like Much. So here's my Little story that will help me to imagine why this news is a big deal:
A hypothetical scenerio: let's say that 100,000 cubic meters of the water were, previously, moving through the Glen Canyon dam every second.
A cubic meter. think of 1 square box about 3 feet tall, long, and wide, filled with water.
 Incidentally, 1 gallon of water weighs more than 7 lbs)
a 16% reduction of the previous water volume used to spin turbines that created electricity, would bring the number of cubic meters per second from 100,000 to 84,000  cubic meters of water per second.
The Glen Canyon Dam provides electricity for 5 million people across seven western states.
16% of 5 million=8 Hundred Thousand.
(FFTE) Reservoirs upstream from the Glen Canyon Dam performed emergency releases of water in Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico in order to keep the Glen Canyon dam from shutting down altogether.
(FFTE)    A 20 year megadrought in areas hundreds of miles away from the Colorado River, A formal shortage declaration was released.
    The Colorado river's two main reservoirs are Lake Mead and Lake Powell.
    These two reservoirs are both at the lowest levels in recorded history.
