Olympic Trials 2021

Women's Swimming Excitement

  And

Women's Gymnastics

...

Simone Biles, only 4'8" & the best all round gymnist I've seen in 40 years (Nadia Comaneci).

Here are a couple clips of Simone doing moves never seen before.

The Vault: she pushes off the vault to reach a height of 12 feet (See photo). Most home ceilings are 8 feet - add 4 feet to that!

Tumbling. This is Simone's strongest event.
1. "The Biles" Pass - 2 flips 3 twists.

2.  Defying Gravity. I love this Pass.

In the photo, you can see that her toes are 6' off the ground. I'm 6', so imagine me standing there as her toes ruffle my hair. Or I wonder if she could j0ust land on my head!

JL@youTube says,
"Absolute clinic in drafting by Weyant (5) in the first 50 of the freestyle leg,
and then by Flickinger (4) at the end.
Ride that wake to the Olympics!"
My reply,
" Great call!  I watched it again at half-speed and it's absolutely No Accident that on the first leg, Weyant's head is stuck on Flickenger's hip the entire leg - no gain or loss for the entire 50m. Drafting! Now it's time for Weyant to RocknRoll!"

The announcer's energy and excitement took over and he went into
"This is what I'm thinking and this is what I'm  gonna say!"
"Damn  the social media torpedoes! "
I love it!

* The following is incorrect: "First, second and third place go to Tokyo Olympics."

This is correct:
"FINA has a time standard that all swimmers must meet to be able to participate in the Olympics. Technically, the top 2 Americans that meet the time standard go to the olympics, not just the top 2 at trials."
