She was a retired second-grade teacher for 30 years for the Lafourche Parish School Board. She was one of eleven children of whom ten received college degrees producing three doctors and six educators. She began her teaching career in 1931 at Cut Off High School and retired in 1973 from Lockport Lower Elementary. In her early years of teaching she coached Lockport girls high school basketball as a volunteer coach winning District Champs two years in a row. She was an avid LSU sports fan and enjoyed many years of attending LSU football games in Baton Rouge and away games. When she was not able to attend anymore she enjoyed watching the games on TV and every morning she enjoyed drinking her coffee and reading the sports section in the newspaper.
