St. Bernard beautifying

The St. Bernard Port, Harbor & Terminal District has proudly become one of the first sponsors to participate in a project aimed at beautifying St. Bernard Parish.
.through a cooperative beautification endeavor between St. Bernard Parish Government’s Parks and Parkways Commission and the New Orleans-based nonprofit Community Visions Unlimited.

has sponsored the painting of one of 20 traffic control boxes throughout the parish which are slated to feature artwork done by local artists

Jackson said the Meraux Foundation has sponsored a cultural arts-themed box

Sponsorships cost $750. Paint and materials are furnished for artists and they receive a $250 stipend for their work.

Several new playgrounds, a fitness zone and skate park are all part of the landscape in Chalmette at Sidney D. Torres Memorial Park, 8301 W. Judge Perez Drive.

part of a revitalization and beautification project funded by the St. Bernard Parish.

new addition is the Gridline Concrete Skate Park. It measures 150-feet by 50-feet and has an 8-foot-deep bowl with multiple ledges. This is a first of it’s kind skate park in St. Bernard Parish due to its size and the fact that the concrete was poured in place.

CAROLYN PARK PLAYGROUND
Members of Christian Business Leaders at Texas A&M University were in the parish last week volunteering at Carolyn Park in Arabi.

District A Councilman Gillis McCloskey worked with the college students to repair and paint various playground equipment including bleachers and benches, and the batting cage turf. The volunteers are staying at Camp Hope which is run by The Gathering in Arabi.
