So is the anti-war movement as thousands of college students across the US drop out and protest in the streets on and around University campuses. President Nixon declared a "state of emergency" which authorized federal authorities to detain persons judged to be a "risk to internal security". In one instance, National Guardsmen fired into a crowd of unarmed, protesting students on the campus of Kent State University of Ohio, killing four.  The documentary follows the fate of roughly 15 detainees – who were arrested for voicing anti-war and anti-government rhetoric during the protests. They were taken to Death Valley, CA, and faced an "emergency tribunal" made up of community members. None of the detainees were allowed to defend themselves, and all were convicted.
